Innocence and the Angel

Its amazing just how many of us believe in Angels. We can`t see them, we can`t touch them, but somehow these winged guardians and divine messengers are part of many cultures around our world.
Out of curiousity, I did a Search on Angels. I got Hells Angels, Blue Angels, US Navy Blue Angels, Charlies Angels, Los Angeles Angels, City of Angels, Angels and Demons, Angel Glamour sites, Paintings of Angels, and Dark Angels, among many more listings, including Angel products of just about every material you can imagine, Glassware, Ceramics, Embroidery, posters, transfers, T-shirts, Books, computer games and, of course, ebay!
And what did I get out of this? Only thoughts really.
If Angels walk among us...would we recognise them? If an Angel chose to become earthbound for a visit, a mission, or just a Holiday... they would have to fit in...be in disuise.
It would require a visit to a shopping mall...they would have to have a credit card!
An Angel with a credit card...there`s a strange thought!
And, they would need a House to operate from, in order to fit in....they would need Real Estate!
Not enough just to buy all of those Designer Label Clothes, they would need to consult an Estate Agent, or a Realtor! .....To Rent or to Buy.... ah! ... the Eternal Question!
And an appartment or a mansion?! City or Rural?!
Depends on whether its a holiday or a mission, I suppose!
If we met someone who drove the latest Mercedes Benz, or Harley Davidson, dressed in Dolce Gabbanna, Versache or Armani, or in Levi jeans for that matter, in jewellerey, be it diamonte, gold or Tiffany jewellery......would we for one moment suspect that they were an Angel?
How would you know that the Hells Angel in Bikers leathers on the Harley wasn`t indeed an Angel?
Of course not..... why would we?
And would they enjoy themselves, fitting in? I suspect they would. Their job, of course, is to see further and deeper than the trappings, to see within. But, there`s no reason why they too shouldn`t enjoy a taste of life while they are here!
But what if they don`t want to go back....I wonder how many little feathers have been shed along the way....?!!
Just one of Zep`s bizarre little thoughts!

Here's a great story about an angel, by Mark Twain -- on of the great short stories, I think.

There are quite a few angels amongst us I think - they show themselves in time of trouble - helping those who need a little bit more tangeable help. Like the innocent people who are injured in terrorist attacks and yet stay to help those who are more seriously injured. Or the people who seem to turn up JUST when you need them the most [ I think they fit into the category of temporary angels!]
Or those who do what is needed for others but who never look for thanks or even acknowledgement - a bit like the people who look after their children or elderly relatives without "making a noise" about it- making sure they have food and clean clothing and love - it is just something they do for those other people, even if they do not know them or will ever even meet them. It is their way of making the world a better nicer place to live in. We can all try to be angels sometime in our lives!!

Good posts!
Like Kindurcos` idea that all of us have a little bit of an angel living in us, and that everyone is capable of being an angel at the right moments.
Good posts guys!

I was fortunate enough to meet an angel while I was in High School. It's a long story and one that I think that I'll tell on my site.

If you get a chance tomorrow...come on over and read it. This is a subject I can spend hours, talking and debating on.

I'll probably write it tonight and post tomorrow...

Hey Zeppillina, I just wanted to thank you for the comment you left on Doug's site regarding the Israel/Palestine pullout. It is such a sad, no-win situation I think you really summed it up well. Do you happen to know the name of the short film you saw?

Zeppellina said...

Hi Godlessmom!

No, that`s the sad part, I didn`t get the name of the program.
I switched over to it just as it was starting. They may show it again though, everything here gets repeated pretty quickly! I will watch out for you and let you know if I find out!
It may have been Channel 4.
Good to hear from you again, godlessmom, hope your mum is doing well. Work is pretty hetic here, so I am a bit tied up, but I hope to be able to be back in circulation soon!!

The funny thing is that the angels we see depicted as attractive people are not the way they are described in The Bible. Those angels take on human semblance only when necessary. Otherwise they're exceedingly monstrous looking, wrath-of-god type creatures.

I'm not as familiar with the angels of other cultures. But, you're correct: angels (and demons) are regularly depicted throughout the world. Some psychologists believe they are merely human projections of our own inner traits.

I think we have gaurdian angels who protect us from danger at times.

My goodness Zep, your art make me long for my wasted youth --- you have the talent of a god/goddess!

Thanks for dropping in and leaving such wonderful comments ... I have a very erotic short story I will one day share, and I can imagine from your art work what type of pictures might be drawn from it. I am in awe!

By the way, angels can just blink and eye and create any illusion they desire. After all, our reality is an illusion, at least that is what I am told. Of course in all fairness, there have been times when I have been able to change my reality from time to time.

Zeppellina said...

Hi Liquidplastic!

Good to see you! High praise!
Thank you!

I love your site, you have a rare talent! I will drop in to see you again later in the week.

Thanks for visiting my site. I liked your description of the urban foxes very much. I recommend you check out the Julian Cope song Reynard The Fox - if you don't know it. It's about the fox and his struggles.
Nice imagery about angels. It reminds me - have to see that Wim Wenders film sometime...
